Observe
In a fictional handoff, pending work is mentioned without a clear next action or confirmation of who will take the next action. The supervisor records the communication behavior and context without patient details.
Develop
The clinician and supervisor rehearse the organization’s approved handoff process, with attention to pending work, next steps, and responsibility. They agree on a cue, support, and a follow-up date.
Review
At a later handoff, the supervisor checks the same communication criteria, records barriers and decides the next coaching step.
